All in the Family featured the curmudgeonly Archie Bunker. Archie was television’s most famous grouch, blunt, blustering, straightforward and untouched by the PC crowd. He was the archetype of the conservative male. Michael desprately tried to reeducate him, but he persisted in his breviloquence.

Looking back at the last 40 years, we realize: ARCHIE WAS RIGHT!

Yeah, how old are we today, blog-wise? Anyway, serious congrats, and it has been a total pleasure and a real and honest learning experience learning something new on a regular basis.

  3. I started doing the blog back on 2/16/2008. So I guess that makes it 7 years now. I used to hang out at Vox's and comment several times a day as well as at several other Ilk blogs. Vox made it look easy. Eventually I started the blog as a way to vent my own ideas and to force myself to write as a method of improving my writing. Back then I was working for myself and I could waste time during the day by checking in a lot and arguing on the internet. It was a fun daily diversion. In those days I had a lot more traffic because I was out commenting on several blogs each day. As much as I questioned the workability of the various different comment tools back then, I have to admit I liked them better than the sign in required method we have today.

Happy birthday, man. But your date is slightly off -- your first post, dated 2/16/2006.

Unless I hit a time warp....?

    Either way, Congrats!

The year, my friend. You wrote "2008".

"Slightly" was tongue-in-cheek -- it's actually off by two years.
