All in the Family featured the curmudgeonly Archie Bunker. Archie was television’s most famous grouch, blunt, blustering, straightforward and untouched by the PC crowd. He was the archetype of the conservative male. Michael desprately tried to reeducate him, but he persisted in his breviloquence.

Looking back at the last 40 years, we realize: ARCHIE WAS RIGHT!

Holy crap! I remember all but one!

I'm really not that old. You can ask my little brother, Methuselah.

Had no personal exposure to: 6,8,9 (too expensive),10 (Brylcreem instead),13,20&24 (too expensive for our family).

    Score: 18

That was all a long time ago...though there's currently a pack of candy cigarettes sitting in our foyer, for some reason. I think the Mrs. got them for our grandson.

  3. I got a higher score than you?

I think they quit making those cars in the 50's. I never saw a new one. I do remember seeing them in car shows or parades.

You metropolitan mugs had greater exposure to culture than us northern hicks.

My mother drove a station wagon to haul her four kids around in. My grandpa had several old cars from the 40's and 50's out rusting in the field behind his house, but they were old Chevys and Fords. I reckon he thought that expensive cars didn't hold up to the sand and salt of Michigan winters any better than cheaper ones did, so why waste the money?

And was Howdy Doody even on the TV back then, any more? I remember Captain Kangaroo, but I've heard more about HD as an adult than I ever did as a kid.

  5. Howdy Doody was in reruns in the 70's. I think, but don't remember for sure, that cable brought it back in the 80's for awhile. It might have been on Nickelodeon for a bit. I just remember the "It’s Howdy Doody time,It’s Howdy Doody time", part of the theme song.

We had a color TV by 1976 or 1977 and I started losing interest in shows that weren't in color.

"metropolitan mugs" my dad didn't move us down state till 1980. I've regretted it ever since and went back to my grandparents every summer, holidays etc. until 1999. I've not been back to MI since 2009.
