Jamel Speaks has an offer to play football next year at Temple. Before he can do that, he has to finish out his senior season of high school, except they school won't let him.
The kid can't play ball at his high school because he is homeless.
I get the argument that high schools might bring in "ringer" athletes that aren't in their district, there for they have to prove residency. That doesn't seem to be the case here.
Very similar to the story of Michael Oher (depicted in The Blind Side), who was taken in by a local family and played for the school where their own children attended.

More of the "one size fits all" application of rules. Morons, everyone one of these people.
ReplyDeleteNobody seemed to get too worked up about his homelessness when he told them. He was homeless and maybe could have used stuff, like a place to stay and some food. That wasn't a priority but let him tryout for the football team without the right address...
