All in the Family featured the curmudgeonly Archie Bunker. Archie was television’s most famous grouch, blunt, blustering, straightforward and untouched by the PC crowd. He was the archetype of the conservative male. Michael desprately tried to reeducate him, but he persisted in his breviloquence.

Looking back at the last 40 years, we realize: ARCHIE WAS RIGHT!

JFK, If....

Today is the 50th Anniversary of the assignation of the 35th President of the United States.  There is much being made about the loss of America's innocence.  How this day changed the country and of course tons of conspiracy theories.  The only thing we know about the assignation is that the official story is a lie.  I suspect that is all we will ever know about that topic.

Kennedy grew up a rich kid in America.  He had the best opportunities and he made the most of them.  When war came, he did his part.  He even earned the Navy and Marine Corps medal for his efforts in WWII.

The "if only" comments that are floating around annoy me.  As in "if only" JFK had lived then, (insert favorite cause here), all would be well in the world.  BS.  JFK would be unelectable in 21st century America.  He was down with a balanced budget AND lowering taxes.  Sure he was known to be banging a movie star but that wouldn't be enough.  Kennedy and Regan were very much alike politically, we will never see the like of them in office again.

Dude, I know it must be your spell checker, but the misspelling of 'assassination' to 'assignation'¹ gives this whole paragraph an entirely different -- and funnier -- meaning. Especially the last sentence.

¹ assignation (noun): An appointment for a meeting between lovers; a tryst.

I totally missed it. Blogger has auto correct and if you don't pay attention it can help you look silly with a correctly spelled word. Instead of looking silly with an incorrectly spelled one.

Kennedy getting himself shot immeasurably changed America for the worst. It was quite possibly the worst single thing that has happened to America (the Civil War was not a single thing). It allowed two things; 1) That son of a byotch Johnson took the helm and 2) it allowed JFK's legacy to be hijacked by the left. If he had not been shot there would have been no "Camelot" fairytale, and the whole "climate of hate" meme would not have gotten the iron grip it has.

And I say this as a conservative Republican that thinks Kennedy was a philandering drug addict with no leadership skills that made most of his own messes.

PT Boat Commander Rule #1: Don't drive your boat into the path of an oncoming BIGGER boat.

Rule #2: If your boat sinks, claim back pain and milk that for all it's worth.

Rule #3: If it's just a scratch that you got from your own fragments kicking back off the shore, get your purple heart anyway. PT boat... swift boat... All the same.
