All in the Family featured the curmudgeonly Archie Bunker. Archie was television’s most famous grouch, blunt, blustering, straightforward and untouched by the PC crowd. He was the archetype of the conservative male. Michael desprately tried to reeducate him, but he persisted in his breviloquence.

Looking back at the last 40 years, we realize: ARCHIE WAS RIGHT!

Culinary Porn

It may come as a surprise to some of you but our very own Farmer Tom is  a provider of internet pornography. Some time ago he posted in the comments section here links to his Face Book account.  None of us were able to access his photo's and I eventually forgot about it.   Then today I was checking out his blog page and I discovered that almost two weeks ago he had posted pics there too.

Here they are.  It's safe for work, but not if you haven't had lunch yet.

When I was a kid we went out mushrooming in May.  There are two wild and easily identifiable mushrooms that are edible.  They're more than edible, they're wonderful.  The first is the beefsteak.  Think of it as the poor mans morel.  Then there are morels.  Morels come in two varieties, black (or common) and white.  Both are wonderful.  Farmer Tom has examples of both (lucky bum) in is bowl.

One of the few downsides of living where I do now is the lack of morels.  It is one of the few things I miss from the Midwest.  The other is ruff grouse and woodcock hunting.  I'm kinda fond of some of the fishing too.

Shrooming is a fantastic activity, mostly because it leads to eating fresh morels.  There is no finer fungus.

So Res, are you in the path of the storm that is going to hit in the area? Snow in June is so weird to contemplate.

Looked at those photos of his mushrooms. Those are things of beauty to behold.

Unfortunately, I also made the mistake of clicking on some of his blog links. She may not post at VD's anymore, but she reads there everyday. I got to be the subject of one of her mentally diseased rants. Wow. I feel so bad for her right now.

  5. I don't think we will get the snow, but it is possible.

    Who is "She"?

    Haven't gone this year, yet.

Didn't go at all last year, either. Since we got the boat year-before-last and brought the jet-skis up from OK, we spend most of our free time at the lake, now.

If you can arrange some time off with the family, y'all are welcome to come down and join us. I know how difficult that can be with your present position, but hopefully the new job comes through and you'll have a better schedule to do so.

The job fell through. They wanted to hire a local person. Plus I was asking for more money than they were offering.

    That's unfortunate.

Hope another opportunity comes along for you.

Sorry Res. Taylor still has a link on Farmer Tom's page.

  10. Susan,

I had no idea any of that was going on with Taylor. One of the reasons I seldom comment at Vox's is that I don't have time or energy for the interaction with some of the posters. Rather than rant about it I've just withdrawn. I always got along fine with Taylor. She was a help setting up my blog when I started. I've wondered what happened to her, and now I know.

The only reason I took down my link to her page was that she told me she was getting out of blogging and wasn't going to be around, otherwise it would still be on the side bar. She has always been civil and friendly with me. I wish her well.

She did get out of blogging per se. But then came the banhammer from Vox and she went nutso and set up a blog where she just goes over the top in a really sad way. She reads his blog then picks it apart on her blog.

I know she has said in the past that she has had some mental/emotional issues, but this is stuff now that I don't recognize from the Taylor of old. I really miss her very much.

  12. Do you have the new blog address? I lost her email when I changed my home computer. I'd like to check in on her.

I read this while the mother-in-law was here. So without thinking I said to the wife, "Res Ipsa says I posted food porn."

My MIL has no sense of humor, and she hates anything computer internet related, so I had to do a lot of explaining to get out of trouble over that one.

  16. FT,

    That cracked me up!

My parents are the same way.

Hey did you do chickens again this year for 4-H? If you did and have any, I'd be happy to buy them off you again.

Didn't do any chickens this year.

Too many other things that fill our schedule, and we lost money on the previous years chickens.

Everybody wants good quality food. They baulk when asked to pay a fair price for it.

The year you bought some was the last time we didn't end up losing money on the deal.

  18. I can't say that my method of getting them from you is very cost effective, but they were good. Plus I like getting to visit when I can.
