All in the Family featured the curmudgeonly Archie Bunker. Archie was television’s most famous grouch, blunt, blustering, straightforward and untouched by the PC crowd. He was the archetype of the conservative male. Michael desprately tried to reeducate him, but he persisted in his breviloquence.

Looking back at the last 40 years, we realize: ARCHIE WAS RIGHT!

Taking the OT

We're shorthanded at work.

We do offer health insurance to everyone working over 35 hours per week.  We don't pay much.  We also have a unemployment rate of under 3%.  Much of the unemployment we have is seasonal, meaning its the fall and jobs that are weather conditional like construction are starting to wind down.  None of this helps us get workers.  We can't even seem to attract some college kids to help out between class or on the weekends.

I've been getting crazy amounts of overtime.  I put in almost 80 hours since last Saturday. Next week looks like more of the same.  I'll try to come up with a blog post or two.  After working nearly non stop now that I have a day off my wife slave driver has plans for my 24 hour period of free time.

  1. You know that noise a beer makes when you pop open a can? Don't make that noise within earshot of your wife because it is evolutionary built in that it makes wives have an auto reflex of thinking up something for you to do. It's not their fault.

  2. I think they could help it. Before marriage it was fun on my days off. Now its honey do this and why haven't you done that.

Hey, don't worry about posting when you're busy. We can just make a ResBot to act on your behalf, like we did with the NateBot.

"I don't worry about seasonings...a little salt and pepper, and it's all good."

    "Fishing is icky."

"I think Obama has been the best president we've ever had."

Res, if I lived closer than TN, I'd probably take you up on that. I'm old enough to have a work ethic, and I could use the extra income to supplement my Reserve retirement.

The difference is that I check my blog, and I am legitimately working a job, not just looking for ways to invest the money my wife makes.

Ouch, that's going to leave a mark Res. (grin)

When I read stuff like this post, I really have to wonder how bad it is out there actually. The media won't cover so many things regarding employment that it is hard to tell sometimes.

Just write whatever is on your mind, we can take it.

    "What business are you in?"

Surviving the Obama economy as best I can while working a dead end job for health insurance benefits and little else.

I used to be a banker and a business consultant. I also did a stint in the energy industry. I hope to get back into one of those fields again.

LOL. Sounds familiar. Except for the health insurance. I have the privilege of paying extra for that.

"I used to be a banker and a business consultant."

Not a lot of demand for either these days with the general economy being in the shitter.
