I just got out of bed today. When I came home this morning there was a slight rain falling. It wasn't much, more of a mist really. The temperature was a bit cool and I was wearing a jacket for the first time since spring.
Wyoming produces something in the area of 40% of the nations coal. We have the newest coal fired power plants in the United States. As a state we are involved in a lawsuit with the EPA right now over our right to regulated our own power plants (the cleanest in the nation). The EPA claims we are destroying the environment.

Enjoy your global warming. It's not doing much for my garden. You'd think with all of our coal we'd catch a break and keep warmer temps and sunshine well into the second week of September.

Beautiful photo of the view from your front door. Farmer's Almanac is predicting another cold snowy winter for the Pac NW for this year. I am very happy about that.

ReplyDeleteBecause Sept is usually a hot b*tch here. If it don't get below freezing very long it won't kill your Green beans. Don't the snow usually keep plants from freezing like it does here and make the soil loose and rich? Then when it warms they really take off. That has been my experience in the spring here when we get a late snow.
We are missing the frost. Only getting down to 36 or so. I've got green beans out my ears.
ReplyDelete3 inches of snow can be hard on beans, they were just about ready to blossom. I'm guessing this will freeze them. The tomatoes, potatoes, squash etc will all die. I won't get any more berries either. The soil is mostly clay here. I've spent 14 years trying to build it into a decent garden.

It may be hot down there but that lets you grow okra. I've only had one year out of the last 14 that I was able to get okra. You would have laughed at my plants they were only two foot tall. I had okra on them. That year we had a couple of weeks of 100 degree heat and a long fall.
This should push some ducks and geese down out of Canada. Two weeks to duck season.

Sorry you got snow. I sure hope it does come here. The soybeans are not even close to mature yet.
I understand you can eat the puffballs when they are just sprouting, when the insides are still white and firm. I've never done it.
