All in the Family featured the curmudgeonly Archie Bunker. Archie was television’s most famous grouch, blunt, blustering, straightforward and untouched by the PC crowd. He was the archetype of the conservative male. Michael desprately tried to reeducate him, but he persisted in his breviloquence.

Looking back at the last 40 years, we realize: ARCHIE WAS RIGHT!

Coincidence?

Star Wars started playing in my town last night.

Speaker of the House Paul Ryan announced a budget deal that creates $1 Trillion in new spending.  The Whitehouse is celebrating its victory.  The republican base has played the fool again.

I don't want to think that Paul Ryan is a evil Sith Lord.  Besides we know there are always two of those and we already have Hillary and Obama.

I was able to get a picture and transcript of Paul Ryan introducing the budget before congress.

Mesa Jar Jar Ryan.  Mesa Benedict Boehner's hand picked replacement.  Mesa make masa  Obama very happy.  Mesa sapossa big budget increase.  Isa funda everything democrats want.  Everyone like mesa nowsa.  Republican base?  Wesa send death star to deal with that.

You Lie Ryan has always been a manchurian style, mind melded Boehner mini me. He just could wind up in history as hated as Benedict Arnold and other former Americans who turned traitor.

Boehner's last "gift" to congress and the country was to ensure the election of his hand picked successor, You Lie Ryan.
I find it quite ironic that he came to prominence by saying that truthfully during Obama's SOTU speech, but now the shoe is on the other foot.

The republican base has played the fool again.

I don't think the Republican base has played the fool at all, I think these elitist SOBs on both sides of the aisle are playing the American people for fools. They know they can get away with it and that no one is going to stop them.

Who are the real fools? Welcome to oligarchy.

    1. When will elected republicans start acting like they were sent to DC to oppose the policies of Democrats?

Getting NOTHING done in DC is far better than doing bad things that hurt America.

    2. We have gotten a taste of honesty in our political discourse Rabbi B, and I don't think we will be willing any time soon to let that go, do you?

DC has always been behind the curve when it comes to understanding what the voters want, and being willing to do that. Because the corruption and the gravy train has so infected these people that they are unwilling to give up the financial incentives.

Self interest has been running DC for several decades now. Mostly on the democrat side in the beginning, but thanks to John Boehner and Nancy Pelosi, the GOPE is now working hard to catch up.

This also follows what God said to Israel when they demanded a King. God told them what the Kings would do, even far into the future. When you read those verses, it is like looking at our situation right now.

This is kind of why I have to smile when I read Nate's and Vox's comment threads and see comments about "saving the country". I am not a traitor, I want liberalism soundly thumped, but it is going to take a miracle from on high to achieve a "saving the country" like folks want.

This is a funny juxtaposition of the Star Wars milieu with reality. But I'm thinking Animal House might actually fit better.

I did get to see the new Star Wars movie last night. I had no intention of seeing it for a couple of months, before all the hoopla died down and the lines got bearable, but WaterGirl happened to surprise me with reserved seats for a private group showing. I don't know if it's because it's been almost 40 years since I first saw the original SW or what, but the magic was gone and it was merely so-so.

If anyone else plans to see it, I highly recommend putting aside your social cynicism, and try to watch it through more youthful eyes; you may enjoy it more.
