All in the Family featured the curmudgeonly Archie Bunker. Archie was television’s most famous grouch, blunt, blustering, straightforward and untouched by the PC crowd. He was the archetype of the conservative male. Michael desprately tried to reeducate him, but he persisted in his breviloquence.

Looking back at the last 40 years, we realize: ARCHIE WAS RIGHT!

This one is a continuation of last week's.

Doug Perrill has a cool job.  He gets to fly a corporate jet around and deliver VIP's to their destinations.  Doug heard about the three young men who saved the folks on that train in France and how their mothers wouldn't be able to go to Paris to see their boys get their award.
So he called his boss and asked for a favor.  I'm not sure how that phone call went down but it ended up with him taking the company jet to Paris and making sure three American moms got to see their boys be honored as heroes.
Good on ya Doug and good on your boss Tim Boyle for picking up the tab.
First as disclaimer, I'm not a fan of tattoos.  It's not my thing.  I think that right around 90% of the time they look stupid.  Call me prejudiced.  I recognize that it takes skill and is a type of art.  I'm glad Aaron Guillemette has developed and practiced his art and honed his skills.
A tattoo artist in Fall River, Massachusetts helped a little girl feel proud to wear leg braces by outfitting them with a set of spectacular Disney designs.
Good on ya Aaron
"I'm glad to be in a position where I can help the community in any way," Aaron Guillemette told Today. "When I was first approached about designing Hope's braces, I thought it would be an awesome idea -- especially when I heard what the subject matter would be. Hope wanted Disney villains on her braces, not princesses."
Disney villains?  At least its not a tramp stamp.  Using the skill you have to do good is praise worthy.

Sometimes the villain is a lot more fun to watch on screen than the good guys. Most of the time, the princesses are just sugar coated milksops. That is probably by design unfortunately, but I always think about how at the end, the villain meets his comeuppance.

Have you watched the Kingsmen yet? It is a total spoofing of the spy movie genre, and the corrupt and selfish leaders of the world get justice in a way that is both perfect, colorful and they use the school graduation music to accompany said comeuppance. My husband didn't care for that part, but honestly, it wasn't gory.

  2. I haven't seen that movie. The grand parents are coming so who knows what other goodies the kids will be getting this trip.

    1. Susan5:36 AM

I hear you about the goodies. But that is not a movie I would think would be age appropriate for them quite yet.

Got the list of "grandpa do's" ready to keep him happy while you are at work?

    2. I have no idea what they are plotting for the visit other than a couple of things my wife has told me about. The kids will love it.

What I like about these grandparents is that they are old school enough to not insult you by intimating that you can't take care of business, but they see a need to help and they just jump right in.

I seriously love that about that stage of life. My late fil was the same way. It is so endearing at the same time as it aggravates the stuffings out of you. Just be grateful that God has blessed you and Mrs. Ipsa with involved grandparents. From reading at Vox's, you would think that there is no such critters anymore.

  3. Q: What does a Panda Bear's ghost say:
    A: Bamboooo

    3 Nazi's walk into a BAR...

Heard those earlier this week and knew where I had to post them.

  4. Hey, I need to leave the Capital of the World and go to someplace near Denver for an emergency this week. Is Waterboy, or Res, or any of the Dread Archie's within easy driving distance of Denver? As in, for dinner?

  5. WaterBoy11:12 PM

I'm in Colorado Springs, north end. Denver Tech Center is about 1 hour drive, if you're on the south side anywhere near there.

You can send email to water dot boyz at the yahoo domain if you want to talk details offblog.

  6. Bill,

I'm several hours from Denver. I'd love to come down but I can't make it on short notice.

  7. Res, are you still using the account at vcn dot com?
