All in the Family featured the curmudgeonly Archie Bunker. Archie was television’s most famous grouch, blunt, blustering, straightforward and untouched by the PC crowd. He was the archetype of the conservative male. Michael desprately tried to reeducate him, but he persisted in his breviloquence.

Looking back at the last 40 years, we realize: ARCHIE WAS RIGHT!

Who to Believe?

If you are like me you don't have time to evaluate every single opinion or impression of public figures.  Sure around election time we focus on the politicians.  Maybe on a slow day we click a link to a story on some celebrity.  For the most part I don't take the time to educate myself on every little bit of social, cultural or political minutia that comes along.

To a degree I rely on the opinions of people whom I know or who I have found to have a particular point of view.  This system works out pretty good.  Sometimes it breaks down, like today.

The former House speaker also says that he would vote for Trump, and called the two of them 'texting buddies.
When it comes to Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, even a few months’ time out of Congress has done little to lessen former House Speaker John Boehner’s contempt for his former Capitol Hill colleague.
“Lucifer in the flesh,” Boehner told an audience at Stanford on Wednesday night, according to the Stanford Daily. “I have Democrat friends and Republican friends. I get along with almost everyone, but I have never worked with a more miserable son of a bitch in my life.”.
John Benedict Boehner did more to advance Obama's agenda for America than anyone, including Obama.  If ever there were a wolf in seeps clothing, or more to the metaphor a devil in an angels wings, it was Benedict Boehner.

When it comes to Cruz, I've seen enough of his campaign to realize that he comfortable with the father of lies, if not dedicatedly in his service.  So Boehner who is bad, says Cruz is bad (which I already believed).  Now Boehner says Trump is good.  This is getting hard.

I was willing to believe Trump might be, if not good, not dedicatedly evil.  But Benedict likes Trump.  Its getting harder to rely on heuristics this election cycle.

My test has always been the Trump honesty, and his almost joyful enthusiasm while clearing out the nation's stables. NOBODY has been able to do this before even 1 primary vote has been cast.
Yet we have a man who not only owns the media, but he has yanked the masks off of ALL the cuckservatives.

Even if he didn't get the nomination for some reason, he has still done a fantastic service for this nation, all out of his OWN pocket, not ours.

Yes, Boehner rode roughshod over the House while Speaker. But sometimes it takes an SOB to call out another SOB.
You have to realize that this is huge news here. Members of congress just don't tell the truth about each other, especially not to the voters.

Actions speak so much louder than words. Cruz claims religion, all while going out and committing the most sleazy actions for his own personal gain. Trump is willing to leave everyone pretty much alone unless they cross that big line regarding his family, or seriously lying about him.

There has always been an unclean spirit surrounding Cruz Res. I have sensed it especially when the media started focusing on him. He just makes me so uncomfortable and creeped out. OTOH, I would allow Donald Trump into my home, his honesty impresses me that much.

He also makes me feel very comfortable. His endorsements are also of such high caliber compared to the corrupt and the sleaze that jumped onto the Cruz Davidian campaign train it is almost laughable.

Now Cruz has picked the worst possible person for the VP spot, simply because he isn't man enough to take on Hillary as an opponent. While you just know that Trump is going to pound her into the sand. If she complains he will just tell her to go pound her own sand.

There is a big reason why God loathes the liars and those who deliberately bear false witness. And why they will hit the eternal lake of fire forever. We are seeing it played out between the sleazy conman Cruz and the much more honest and forthright Trump.

Res Ipsa: "But Benedict likes Trump."

    Blind squirrel? Broken clock?

"Its getting harder to rely on heuristics this election cycle."

I wouldn't put too much stock in heuristics, anyway. After all, even Hitler liked coffee....

Another example of why you cannot go by heuristics:

"Thank you, Donald, really appreciate it. And by the way, Ted, nobody got molested."

The definition of this word heuristic explains a lot about my thinking that I have never been able to correctly label before. I have never been able to understand until now why I could not grasp some things by just being told. I have to watch a demonstration or have somebody coach me through it.

I learn something new everyday. Nice.

In the computer world, heuristics are commonly used in programs like anti-virus software and spam filters on email. They have a general set of rules about what virii and spam look like, and set out to catch new ones before they are discovered and catalogued.

Of course, there are occasional false positives, so the process isn't perfect...just like the examples of the people above.

That is a great response and example. Thanks. I recently watched a Netflix streaming series called Mega Mansions, and one of the best was in Minnesota IIRC.

The owner was the guy who came up with the concept of emails. He made billions and his home shows it. It is kind of like an old but updated Tudor great room, but with a huge indoor fish tank and a mahogany slide along with stairs. Seriously awesome home for himself and his teen boys.

I imagine guys like this try and offer their kids incentives to stay home, give the high risk targets they would be for kidnapping with all that money from dad.

  5. I admit it. I like to think of myself as a informed and educated person. Compared to many of my countrymen that's true. BUT like everyone else I use little rules of thumb to gage situations.

One of my heuristics is playing opposites with people I disagree with. When someone I've categorized as unreliable or untrustworthy comes out in favor of someone else, its a pretty good clue that I'm not going to like their conclusions.

Like in WB's programing example, false positives can be disconcerting.

Some people in our church support Cruz... they have time to put into research, but must be blinded or simply thinking about the Best "Conservative" Option.

I always avoid the subject because I don't have the time or desire to know more.

Regardless, Trump has really shaken the template from past elections.

  7. "Texting buddies" ?? So Boehner asks Trump for money and endorsements every couple of months? Which will work for Trump till he pulls a Romney.

It's still possible Trump is the ultimate Repug double cross. But unlike the others he seems to be the only chance of a pull up from the current multi-culti nose dive. And considering how many enemies he's suddenly gotten I'd be surprised if they were all trying for reverse psychology.

Anyway since I've been out of pocket for a bit I also want to wish you a continued recovery and good luck job hunting.

  8. I think Boehner sees where the election is going and is simply hitching his wagon to the most likely winner.

He's not supporting Trump so much as he's serving himself.
