All in the Family featured the curmudgeonly Archie Bunker. Archie was television’s most famous grouch, blunt, blustering, straightforward and untouched by the PC crowd. He was the archetype of the conservative male. Michael desprately tried to reeducate him, but he persisted in his breviloquence.

Looking back at the last 40 years, we realize: ARCHIE WAS RIGHT!

Definition #1 reminds me of one of my favorite episodes of Home Improvement, where Tim is in a discussion with his wife regarding the women's definitions of his tools.
Thingy and doohickey were my favorites. IIRC, the episode revolved around Tim finding out that Jill was using one of his beloved tools to help her unjam the garbage disposal or something like that. It really was a nice tool.

They got the definitions reversed in #8.

    At least, in my house....

That one is definitely my house. After awhile, I am just "would you please settle"??
I have heard of houses filled with women folk and the poor man has to go through this himself.
