All in the Family featured the curmudgeonly Archie Bunker. Archie was television’s most famous grouch, blunt, blustering, straightforward and untouched by the PC crowd. He was the archetype of the conservative male. Michael desprately tried to reeducate him, but he persisted in his breviloquence.

Looking back at the last 40 years, we realize: ARCHIE WAS RIGHT!

Quick Note

I've been considerably under the weather this last week.  I've barely made it into work.  Monday and Tuesday I barely made it out of bed.

I'm not 100% sure of the cause of this illness.  Last month the doctor switched one of my meds.  After changing over to the new pills I started feeling run down.  I had a blood draw done last Friday and received the results on Monday.  Thursday I saw the doctor.  The long and short of it is that my liver reacted very badly to the new drug.

I don't know if the new meds screwed up my system and made me sick, or if I was weakened by the meds and contracted a bug that knocked me on my butt.  I've been off the drug for 48 hours now and I'm feeling better.  With any luck I'll be back to normal by Monday.

  1. This could lead to worse problems, I don't know what hey were treating with the med that caused a liver failure, zero alcohol and a lot of fresh raw vegetables. When the liver gets hit real hard you need a turn around quickly so it can start making the new cells to replace the ones that died. Take exceptional care of yourself for a good while and no Tylenol.

What Outlaw X says. I read once about 30 years ago that it isn't necessarily the active ingredients that we can be allergic to.

It is the inactive ingredients that the FDA doesn't require to be listed on the package that can throw us for a loop.

Having had a reaction once to an over the counter med, Outlaw X is correct. Watch yourself, and indulge in liver and kidney friendly stuff for a while. You need to build your liver back up. You have a LOT to be healthy for Res.

    Thanks guys,

I've got a problem with arthritis. One of the possible side effects of the drug is problems with the liver. I'm back on the old drug now.

Note to anyone on the front range, Waterboy, Astro etc:

I'm going to be down that way around lunchtime tomorrow. Anyone that wants to grab a burger, give me a call on my cell or drop me an email with your cell number. I'm going to be in Boulder. I'll check my email before 12:00 tonight.

Good to hear you're back on your feet. Nothing worse than laying in bed with all that work piling up.

Didn't see your comment about Boulder until this morning, and unfortunately, I'm heading the other direction out of town. Let me know the next time you'll be across the border, though maybe a little more in advance?

  5. Glad you got the meds straightened out.

Boulder, eh? About 18 years to late for me.

I didn't know that I was going to make a run until I posted.

I'll try to give a little more notice next time

  7. Any tags in your pocket this year? I will be in the hills for Thanksgiving week, tentatively.

  8. Giraffe,

I only had the one antelope tag. Maybe we could work something out on a Saturday.
