All in the Family featured the curmudgeonly Archie Bunker. Archie was television’s most famous grouch, blunt, blustering, straightforward and untouched by the PC crowd. He was the archetype of the conservative male. Michael desprately tried to reeducate him, but he persisted in his breviloquence.

Looking back at the last 40 years, we realize: ARCHIE WAS RIGHT!

Thrift Shop

I admit I had never heard of this song before I saw it at Vox's awhile back.

Longmont Colo--A woman was arrested and jailed on Saturday after she admitted to police that she pushed and choked her boyfriend on the 3800 block of Pike Road because he would not stop repeatedly singing Macklemore's song "Thrift Shop." Officers were called to the area on a report of a domestic disturbance.
I think she was justified.  This is the stuff cops have time for now that they aren't busting pot heads.

  2. Yeah, I was hearing the song on the radio a little bit. I thought it was kind of funny, because we have a very weird small group that I'm in at church. We meet weekly do a study. Then every couple months we go out and party. One of our parties we went out on the town dressed only in polyester that we found at the thrift shops.

  3. Plus, the missus buys a lot of stuff for the kids at the thrift shops.

So we were poppin tags before it was cool.

  4. There was a family that I knew growing up, the wife was always dressed very nice. The kids wore the same kind of stuff that everyone else did. It was whispered that she shopped at Goodwill, which was the thrift shop back then. All of which was true. After college I was working in banking and had an opportunity to get a little glimpse into their finances. They were worth millions but no one knew it.

I've always thought that people who wrack up large amounts of money and never spend any are foolish, because what good is money if not to buy things with. Probably why I will never have any.
