All in the Family featured the curmudgeonly Archie Bunker. Archie was television’s most famous grouch, blunt, blustering, straightforward and untouched by the PC crowd. He was the archetype of the conservative male. Michael desprately tried to reeducate him, but he persisted in his breviloquence.

Looking back at the last 40 years, we realize: ARCHIE WAS RIGHT!

Nimrod

I don't use this space for Biblical or Evangelical purposes very often.  It occurs to me that there is a story way back in the Book of Genesis that has application to today.

Gen 10:8-13
8 Now Cush became the father of Nimrod; he became a mighty one on the earth. 9 He was a mighty hunter before the LORD; therefore it is said, "Like Nimrod a mighty hunter before the LORD." 10 The beginning of his kingdom was Babel and Erech and Accad and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. 11 From that land he went forth into Assyria, and built Nineveh and Rehoboth-Ir and Calah, 12 and Resen between Nineveh and Calah; that is the great city.
NAS
Skipping down a bit we get the rest of the Story of Nimrod:

Gen 11:1-9
Now the whole earth used the same language and the same words. 2 It came about as they journeyed east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar and settled there. 3 They said to one another, "Come, let us make bricks and burn them thoroughly." And they used brick for stone, and they used tar for mortar. 4 They said, "Come, let us build for ourselves a city, and a tower whose top will reach into heaven, and let us make for ourselves a name, otherwise we will be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth." 5 The LORD came down to see the city and the tower which the sons of men had built. 6 The LORD said, "Behold, they are one people, and they all have the same language. And this is what they began to do, and now nothing which they purpose to do will be impossible for them. 7 "Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, so that they will not understand one another's speech." 8 So the LORD  scattered them abroad from there over the face of the whole earth; and they stopped building the city. 9 Therefore its name was called Babel, because there the LORD confused the language of the whole earth; and from there the LORD scattered them abroad over the face of the whole earth.
NAS

We can't be 100% certain  but this was probably the beginning of the different racial groups or at least the tendencies of the races to group together according to linguistics.  I draw that conclusion based on the different linages described in the surrounding text.  Be that as it may, Mankind has a history of racial and linguistic separation, if not down right antagonism towards others from different racial/linguistic groups.

The history of man, secular as well as Biblical is a story of one group against another.  Yes there is trade and commerce.  There is also war and conquest.  The group that wins is sometimes determined by who has the superior civilization or military tactics, but in the end those factors are secondary to which racial language group has the most offspring.

It has been this way since the time of Nimrod.  There is no reason to expect that this pattern will change in our day and age.

God did not doom mankind to war and conflict.  He only established group dynamics and interest to go along with self interest.  Man has established for himself a system of cooperation that is capable of keeping the peace and giving mankind the benefit of economic prosperity.  This system transcends our racial and linguistic tendency for separation.

Two factors are required for the nations to coexist peacefully.  The first is boarders.  Boarders are that magic line that says, you stay over there and I'll stay over here except by mutual consent to the contrary.  The second is trade.  In order for there to be trade there must be a willingness to exchange goods and a fair median for that exchange.  In biblical terms "honest scales".

The United States is failing at both of these concepts.  First, we don't recognize the significance of our own border and we are allowing ourselves to be over run with racial groups that don't share our culture.  Second, we don't recognize the boarders of any nation on earth.  We assume that whatever the issue inside another nation, we have a right to interfere if we are so inclined.  Thus we have a military that is involved in operations, not just in our corner of the world, but in every place that a congressional lobbyist has a passing economic interest.

We are not a nation of Law, Principle, or even Racial homogeny.  We are a nation of the politics of pull.  Whoever has the "pull" gets to decide how to use the national assets for their own ends.

At the end of World War II the United States found its self in the enviable position of being the largest industrial nation with an intact infrastructure.  We could build anything anyone could want.  Which we did.  We sold large amounts of goods to the rest of the world so that they could rebuild.  We also had the ability to grow tons of surplus food.  Literally we had tons more food than we could ever possibly eat ourselves at a time when others had very little.  We sold that to. Being America we wanted to be paid in dollars.  Which we were.  Americans also wanted something.  We wanted cars.  We wanted cheap gas to drive our cars.   America has plenty of petroleum hydro carbon deposits.  Other countries had cheaper and easier access to oil.  We bought it from them and we paid in dollars.

In 1947 the dollar was defined as 1/35 of an once of 22 caret gold or 1oz of .9999 pure silver.  Remember FDR devalued the dollar from 1/20 oz to 1/35 oz but left the exchange rate of silver the same.  Regardless, everyone believed that at least for accounting purposes the dollar had real tangible objective value.  This went on for about 20 years until some countries started to want to exchange their dollars for gold.  The US started a discriminatory policy of picking and choosing which countries we would allow to redeem dollars for bullion.

Shortly there after Gen. Charles de Gaulle, the leader of France, decided that he could skim a few bucks off the top if he could get the rest of the world to send him their dollars which he would exchange for them for gold.  Richard Nixon responded by closing the  gold window at the Federal Reserve Bank.  Effectively this ended the gold exchange standard.

This should have been the end of the dollar, at least as a international median of exchange.  However, due to mistrust among other nations, and the fact that the dollar was still the worlds strongest currency, and perhaps most importantly, you could still buy things with it, the dollar remained the median of exchange.

Had the United States kept the dollar an "honest" fiat currency it probably could have continued in its top spot for a long time.  The problem was that prior to Nixon becoming president LBJ and his co-conspirators in congress committed treason in an effort to ensure the enslavement of the Negros to the democratic party's voting machine.   Social spending was designed to grow the racial minorities dependency on a Socialist government, spending on these programs was designed to grow automatically, and substantially unchecked.

The American public, most of whom where still paying taxes at that time, refused to pay any more.  When Ronald Regan reduced tax rates and the American economy recovered after Carter, the political class gave up on tax increases as the primary method to fund the welfare state.  We borrowed the money instead.  Because there is no way to repay that borrowing, the bankers and politicians devalued (cheated people) the dollar.

The US is more than in trouble.  We are on our way out.  We do not respect the borders of other groups, and they do not respect us.  They might not be able to do anything about it today because our military has more and better ways of killing them, but neither will they help us.  We are allowing our own border to be overrun with people who do not share our culture.  We abort our own offspring.  We do not even have enough to replace ourselves and sustain our own culture.  The invaders reproduce themselves at our collective expense.  We do not use a fair scale in trade.  We devalue our money to serve the short term interests of a few central bankers and a bureaucracy that is designed to enslave the Negro and empower itself.  Anyone wanting to change the situation is marginalized or ignored, especially by the so called conservative political parties.

I suspect that 100 years from now maps will recognize a place called "The United States of America".  My grandparents generation will not be able to recognize the culture of that spot on the map as being the one they knew.  Even now I can barely recognize it myself.  The story is as old as the book of Genesis those who want to rule the world are doomed to fail.  Racial and linguistic realities will splinter the best laid plans of man.  Dishonesty, greed, sloth, lust and pride will destroy a nation as well as a man.

We are in the Gotterdammerung.  I don't know if it will take 100 years or 50 or 25 or even if we have tomorrow.  It is coming to an end.  We did it to ourselves.  There will never be a lasting one world government, at least not this side of the apocalypse.  No national government can hope to survive the destruction of its culture from within and the obliteration of the trust and good will of those from without.  The people who believe they can run the world are the same ones that today can't balance the budgets or keep the streets paved and in good repair.

  1. I used to listen to Michael Savage years ago. He used to hammer home 3 things. Borders, language and culture. The backbone of a Nation. Our borders are no longer enforced by either party. Texas, of all states fired a teacher for saying students should speak english. Culture? 55 million abortions, perversions like homosexuality and porn being mainstreamed and morals and ethics derided and slammed. We have caused our own destruction. Wasn't it disHonest Abe who said if America fell, it would be because we destroyed ourselves? maybe Neil Postman was right.

  2. I think that is the road that we are on. Rome fell from with in long before they collapsed from without.

I have been thinking along your same lines of thought for a while now Res. Do you realize you could actually do a series of posts like this on several OT stories that are valid today? I would have no problems reading them at all.
After all, isn't there an old saying that says those that ignore history are doomed to repeat it?
    Preach it Res!

As to Nimrod's story, you are exactly correct. God never meant for His creation to gather together in mega cities like that. And I totally agree with your point about languages too. God scattered everyone and he took away that tendency to congregate like Nimrod's community did.

I think that your state is actually closer to the Biblical standard than a place like NY or CA. I know I like and feel more comfortable in smaller population zones. You feel more comfortable knowing your neighbors and so on.

  4. Thanks Susan.

I'll put some more thought into it and see what I come up with.
