All in the Family featured the curmudgeonly Archie Bunker. Archie was television’s most famous grouch, blunt, blustering, straightforward and untouched by the PC crowd. He was the archetype of the conservative male. Michael desprately tried to reeducate him, but he persisted in his breviloquence.

Looking back at the last 40 years, we realize: ARCHIE WAS RIGHT!

Death Penalty?

No word on if it was scotch or bourbon.
GREENSBURG, Pa. – The live-in caretaker of a western Pennsylvania mansion is facing criminal charges for allegedly drinking more than $100,000 worth of the owner's whiskey.

$100,000 worth of booze, talk about an expensive bar tab.

Right to Infringe?

NYC Mayor Bloomberg: Government has right to ‘infringe on your freedom’.
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said on Sunday: Sometimes government does know best. And in those cases, Americans should just cede their rights.
“I do think there are certain times we should infringe on your freedom,” Mr. Bloomberg said, during an appearance on NBC. He made the statement during discussion of his soda ban — just shot down by the courts — and insistence that his fight to control sugary drink portion sizes in the city would go forth.

Say what???

The government never has a "right to infringe".  In some cases, we as a people grant the government the ability to establish laws to safe guard our rights as individuals.  These laws may limit some individual actions, but the purpose of the laws is not to infringe on individual rights, it is to safe guard the rights of those so governed.  Believing otherwise, as Bloomberg does, is to get the cart before the horse, or more pointedly in this case, to make the slave the master.

Bloomberg has no more "right" to limit the number of guns I own, or the number of bullets they hold, than he does to limit the number of ounces in my big gulp.  To believe otherwise is tyranny.

Town Legalizes Drinking and Driving

My in laws have come for a visit.  It shouldn't last more than a week or two.  The kids love it when grandma and grandpa are around.

In other news:

Irish Town Legalizes Drinking and Driving

I wonder if Americans of Irish decent are covered under the new law.  Maybe we could work out a two week asylum for in law visits.  I like Irish beer and whisky.

Blogging may be light for a while.  I've got a few posts lined up so, you'll have a reason to stop by. In the event I don't survive the visit, there are bad joke Wednesday jokes in the queue until sometime mid summer.

FOR THE LADIES

A very attractive lady goes up to a bar in a quiet rural pub. She gestures alluringly to the bartender who comes over immediately. When he arrives, she seductively signals that he should bring his face closer to hers. When he does, she begins to gently caress his full beard.

"Are you the manager?" she asks, softly stroking his face with both hands. "Actually, no," the man replies.

"Can you get him for me? I need to speak to him," she says, running her hands beyond his beard and into his hair.

"Can't," breathes the bartender. "He's not here. Is there anything I can do?"

"Yes, there is. I need you to give him a message," she continues, running her forefinger across the bartender's lips and slyly popping a couple of her fingers into his mouth and allowing him to suck them gently.

"What should I tell him?" the bartender manages to say.

"Tell him," she whispers, "there is no toilet paper, hand soap, or paper towels in the ladies room."

Ought a Be a Law

There ought a be a law...

That's something we hear now and again.  Well I for one have some proposed verbiage for a law:

"Whereas the United States Congress and the President have failed to pass a budget for the governance of the United States for the last four years; and in absence of said budget the executive branch has spent a sum in excess of 1 Billion dollars per year for the maintenance of the first family, and none of those expenditures were lawfully approved by the people of the United States: be it resolved that Barrack and Michelle Obama shall be required to repay to the Treasury of the United States all expenditures for travel, vacations, recreational activities and other such expenses not associated with the maintenance of the first family while residing in the Presidential Mansion.
The Internal Revenue Service is authorized to, seize all assets, and/or garnishee all wages, pensions, royalties, rents and any other source of income; as well as place tax liens against all properties owned by the Obama's until such a time as the debt has been repaid in full.  This recovery action shall take priority over all other creditors or debts."

Of course it won't get passed, but we can dream.
