All in the Family featured the curmudgeonly Archie Bunker. Archie was television’s most famous grouch, blunt, blustering, straightforward and untouched by the PC crowd. He was the archetype of the conservative male. Michael desprately tried to reeducate him, but he persisted in his breviloquence.

Looking back at the last 40 years, we realize: ARCHIE WAS RIGHT!

Notable Quotable

I ran across a quote by science fiction writer Isaac Asimov.

There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there always has been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that “my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.”

Yep.  That goes a long way to explain our political culture today.  Add to that statement a strong sense of personal entitlement to the unearned wealth generated by others and a culture dominated by the politics of pull and widespread moral decay and you get a good picture of America.
