All in the Family featured the curmudgeonly Archie Bunker. Archie was television’s most famous grouch, blunt, blustering, straightforward and untouched by the PC crowd. He was the archetype of the conservative male. Michael desprately tried to reeducate him, but he persisted in his breviloquence.

You have recently discovered yourself using the word "twaddle" when talking to another adult about a serious subject.


You are defiantly a homeschooler if you can name the women whose writing popularized the word.

    Ever since I started seriously reading the Breitbart Big London site a year ago, I have found myself using all kinds of creative terminology.

      Would that woman be Charlotte Mason by any chance? I only know because I had to google to confirm the definition of twaddle. Lovely word, almost as fun as pettifogger and guttersnipe. Then there is kerfuffle, twat, twit and numpty.

    Yes its Charlotte Mason one of the guru's of homeschool education methodology.

    I had to look up pettifogger. I intend to use it at the next extended family gathering I attend (2 lawyers in the family). I had to look up numpty as well, I think that's going to be added to my regular vocabulary.
